Wed, July 5, 2006 - 5:11 PMyeah, um, that is beyond dorky.
I was thinking if that's a qualifier for dorkiness,
then I am not a dork. -

Re: who else here writes fan-fic?
Tue, September 26, 2006 - 7:20 PMheh-heh, dorkdom's dark little secret comes out. I am new here (hello!) and hadn't yet posted an intro because I am still wondering whether I qualify as a dork, let alone a sexy dork. But I do have to admit to having read some HP and BTVS fan-fic (oh and I think I found some Roswell fanfic too!). At a certain point I stopped because (at least for the HP books) it was setting my reality off in a different direction than what Rowling was putting forth. Not a bad thing but then I was getting confused with what was Rowlings reality - which may not matter in the big picture but helps as you try to figure out the various clues/mysteries in the book.
Anyhow for me fanfic is easier to read and write for a show that is over. Hence I started writing fanfic for Angel (after it ended) and I also created a spin-off show covering Wesley's solo run as a detective on his own. I imagined time enough for about 5 or 6 episodes of the adventures of Wesley and tried to make it darker, more noir (since Wesley was in his dark, uber serious phase).
For a show or character that one really loves, I think writing (even bad) fanfic is a great way to extend the fantasy. I guess once I discovered all those fanfix repositories (with *much* better writers) I was kind of overwhelmed and awed and so kind of tapered off.
Do any of you post your works on those fanfic sites?
